Paganism is both a philosophy and a religion for me. It ties three key components together - my way of viewing the world, the principals that guide my life, and emotional depth and fulfillment. To me, paganism makes sense. While paganism does not require rituals, it does present numerous opportunities to perform them. The changing seasons (sabbats) and phases of the moon (esbats) alone provide almost weekly occasions to celebrate! And then of course there are birthdays, anniversaries, and secular holidays as well. I found a nice list on some of the reasons we should keep incorporating ceremony and celebration into our lives:
To express our reverence for nature and the universe.
To strengthen our understanding of the tight links between self, nature and cosmos.
To see human life as part of the natural cycle.
To celebrate the beauty of nature and the universe.
To strengthen our beliefs.
To provide mental support at times of stress.
To provide mutual social support in our beliefs.
As a daily therapy.
