Ostara Preparations

My Ostara altar complete with seeds and rabbits

I cannot wait to celebrate Ostara! With the vernal equinox comes light and warmth, new growth, and the beginning of a beautiful and joyous season. I love the image of Spring as a  beautiful maiden awakening from slumber. She dances and sings and fills my heart with joy! I will be doing an Ostara ritual tomorrow night with some female friends at sundown. There are so many different ways to honor this festival, and it's been fun reading all about them and figuring out how I want to do my own.

Thinking about springtime invokes a "starting over" feeling for me. The quiet reflection time of winter is over, now is time for action! The theme of "new beginnings" will be the central feature during the ritual, combined with all the wonderful colours and images that come with the season. The only thing I am not yet sure of is specifically what our offering to the earth will be. Some ideas I like include an offering of milk and honey (or sugar), or baking bread, or making a special raft and sending it out on the water.
